CLUB STATEMENT | Club activity suspended due to lockdown

Following the announcement of a statewide snap lockdown in Victoria, Essendon Royals confirms that all club activity was suspended as of 8pm, Thursday 5 August, 2021.

Football Victoria has also confirmed the suspension of all football and futsal activity for the duration of the lockdown with the following statement on their website:

With the State Government’s announcement that Victoria will enter a seven day lockdown, Football Victoria (FV) confirms that all Football/Futsal activities from 8.00pm tonight, Thursday, August 5 will be suspended.

This includes all organised competitions, practice matches & training sessions, refereeing training sessions, in-person referee & coaching courses, Cup competitions/tournaments, Futsal competitions and training, Talent ID and FV elite development programs.

We recommend any Clubs with training scheduled tonight do not proceed with this session, due to the lockdown commencing from 8pm.

Please visit our COVID-19 FAQs for further details.

At this stage, we anticipate that competitions will resume as scheduled next weekend. We encourage all Clubs and Associations to stay connected with parents and players to prepare them for the resumption of football.

Football Victoria will continue to liaise with the Department of Sport and Recreation and will provide updates as they are available.

Please stay safe and we look forward to football resuming following this lockdown.

Essendon Royals reminds all members and the public that we have a Train At Home portal which includes a range of videos, e-books and guides to enable training at home with minimum space and equipment.
