Essendon Royals Soccer Club is proud to announce our 2022 JBNPL coaching line-up.
Vaughan Coveny will once again coach our youngest JBNPL side in the under-14s.
Coveny also serves as the Royals Head of Football and successfully led our 2021 JBNPL squad to Division 1 qualification.
Coveny’s 2021 under-14 squad will be moving into the under-15s where they will be coached by Dino MIhocic.
Dino is a well-known youth developmental coach, who enjoyed a fantastic 2021 in charge of the club’s under-17 JBNPL squad in 2021, narrowly missing out on qualification to Division 2, despite competing against JBNPL squads with years of experience in the competition.
Vitale Ferrante and Claude Gomes will be moving on up with their 2021 under-15 squad into the under-16s.
Ferrante, who also oversees the club’s State League 1 Men’s team, has struck up a fine partnership with Gomes, having led their side into Division 2, only narrowly missing qualification to Division 1, in their squad’s first season of JBNPL competition.
Rama Caligiuri is the only new face in the Royals JBNPL coaching line-up, taking on the under-18 job.
Rama, who is not a total stranger to the Royals having formed a part of Ferrante’s senior coaching set-up in 2020, arrives from Altona Magic and will oversee the development of the Royals oldest age-group, which will aim to prepare players to move into senior football.
Talented under-18s in the JBNPL program will have opportunities to train with the Royals Men’s Reserves squad in preparation for the years to come.
Essendon Royals can confirm trials for our 2022 Junior Boys National Premier Leagues will be on an invitation-only basis.
The Royals have received over 100 Expressions of Interest for JBNPL trials for the 2022 season, creating intense competition for players within the program.
Due to a limited numbers of available spots and our commitment to the vast majority of existing players who the Royals are proud to continue working with, the Royals will be conducting trials for the limited positions available in the club’s high-demand NPL program on an invitation-only basis.
We continue to welcome late Expressions of Interest for any interested parties who would like to be considered for trials.
At the other end of the scale, the Royals also invite Expressions of Interest from those seeking a position in the club’s under-13 pre-JBNPL squad.
Trials will commence as soon as restrictions allow, and those invited to participate will be contacted with relevant dates and times.
As per the Victorian Government roadmap, community training will be allowed to recommence when 70% of eligible Victorians have been full vaccinated against COVID19. The indicative date for this is 26 October 2021.
Essendon Royals Soccer Club would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Moonee Valley City Council for considering the club’s competitive requirements, which commence in February.
Council has allocated several fields to the Royals throughout the summer season.
This is the first time the club’s needs in summer have been formally recognised by Council, and we consider this an enormous stride forward for our club.
We note, with pleasure, that summer allocations have also been extended to our fellow Moonee Valley football clubs, Avondale FC, Strathmore Split and Essendon United, a pleasing development for the wider sport in the Moonee Valley.
With Council also working on a Football Strategy, we look forward to continuing to build on these promising steps forward for our immensely popular sport.
Late JBNPL Expressions of Interest can be filed using the form below.
