Proven goalscorer Mary Hubeek joins Essendon Royals

Essendon Royals senior women’s team has welcomed Mary Hubeek to the side.

The second signing of new senior coach Vince Battiato’s reign, Hubeek arrives at Cross Keys Reserve from State League 1 South-East outfit Ringwood City.

Hubeek bagged 10 goals in 11 games for Ringwood during the ill-fated 2021 campaign, which was cancelled with City sitting top of the South-East side of the State League 1 competition, a full eight points clear of second-placed Monbulk Rangers.

In 2022, Hubeek will be clocking up her 25th season of outdoor football, in a career which has blossomed in recent years.

Before she was banging in goals for Ringwood, Hubeek won the State League 2 South-East Golden Boot with Sandringham Soccer Club, scoring 29 goals in the 2019 season, as well as the league’s Best-And-Fairest award.

Hubeek has proven equally as prolific on the futsal courts, helping Northcote City to a 2020/21 Futsal Oz championship.

The acquisition of the striker adds plenty of firepower to Battiato’s team and proven goalscoring ability in the State League 1 competition.
