Ravi Paligaru promoted to Essendon Royals senior men’s squad

Essendon Royals are delighted to announce the promotion of youngster Ravi Paligaru into the senior men’s squad.

Paligaru was a stand-out in the Reserves last season, arriving halfway through the 2021 campaign and putting in some impressive performances across 12 games before the competition was eventually cancelled.

Those performances have been rewarded with a promotion into the senior men’s squad for the 2022 season.

“I knew a few of the boys in the Reserves I had played with and I know the coaches from last season, so it was good to come across [in 2021],” he said.

“It was easy for me to fit in with that squad, and I think that allowed me to enjoy my game.

“I guess it showed on the pitch so I’m excited for what’s to come.”

Paligaru said it was exciting to be given the opportunity to train and play with the senior men.

“I’m here to win games and develop. I want to help the team get promoted,” he said.

“Vitale was my coach at Pascoe Vale, so I know him and worked with him back then.

“I like him as a coach and when the opportunity to come here last season came up it was an opportunity I wanted to take.

“I think I can improve as a player and as a person under ‘V’, so I’m excited for what this season can hold.”

The youngster is aiming for a break-out campaign and will be looking to make the most of any opportunities earned throughout the season.
