Theothora Dimitropoulos joins Essendon Royals

The Essendon Royals have added the talents of Theothora Dimitropoulos to Vince Battiato’s senior women’s squad ahead of the 2022 season.

The experienced defender arrives from Bundoora United, where she served as vice-captain, having previously played at Moreland Zebras and Heidelberg United.

At the Zebras, Dimitropoulos was a captain and helped steer the club from State League 3 to State League 1.

Comfortable in any position across the backline, Dimitropoulos brings added experience and versatility in defence ahead of the new season.

Dimitropoulos has been familiarizing herself with the Royals set-up, having joined in early pre-season sessions last year and is already finding herself at home.

“I love the energy at Essendon,” she said.

“I see myself as a really positive and enthusiastic player and that’s the feeling I got from Vince and the team straight away.

“I’m really looking forward to a new challenge and a great season.”

Dimitropoulos joins a host of new faces in the senior women’s team, joining former A-League Women’s player Rachel Alonso, as well as Marie Rampal, Linda Sawa, Jacinta Da Cruz, Celeste Gallina, Stephanie Gouder, Cat Ioannidis, Rebecca Davies and Mary Hubeek.

From the 2021 squad, Giulia Sepe, Priscilla Ribas, Tahlya Gorevski, Zoe Schaffner, Katrina Tsalikidis and Marcela Marques have all re-signed for the club.
