Football Victoria has released the Men’s State League 1 North-West fixtures for the 2022 season.
Essendon Royals will kick off their campaign away to Banyule City on Saturday 19 March and finish the season at home against Whittlesea United on Saturday 20 August.
All up, the Royals will face-off against 11 of Victoria’s toughest senior men’s teams in one of the country’s most gruelling leagues.
In the opening four rounds, the Royals will play away from home three times, taking on Caroline Springs George Cross in Round 2 at City Vista Reserve, before welcoming Yarraville Glory to Cross Keys Reserve for the first Friday night home game of the season on Friday 1 April.
In Round 4, the first Moonee Valley derby will take place with the Royals making the short trip to Strathnaver Reserve to take on FC Strathmore, who this week announced the appointment of former A-Leagues star Brendon Santalab as their new senior coach.
The Royals take on Sydenham Park under lights at Cross Keys on Friday 15 April, ahead of an away trip to Altona City in Round 6 and a return to Cross Keys in Roun 7 against Brimbank Stallions.
Clashes against Corio SC (A), FC Clifton Hill (A), Keilor Park SC (H) and Whittlesea United (A) round out the first half of the draw.
The Royals play a total of seven out of their first 11 games away from home, Essendon enjoys a host of home fixtures in the second half of the season.

Outside of league duties, the Royals will also enter the Australia Cup in the next round (Round 3 of the Victorian Australian Cup preliminary rounds), with the draw taking place on Thursday 24 February at 12 pm, live on the Football Victoria Facebook page.
The Royals are number 23 in the draw.
The Round 3 fixtures are scheduled to take place between Friday 4 March and Monday 7 March.
