Royals Ball 2022 Recap and Photos
Essendon Royals hosted almost 300 people at its annual Ball on Saturday 28 May, 2022.
On a night that the Royals were able to celebrate its past, present and future, the Royals hosted a combination of current and former players, supporters and sponsors on a fantastic night at Hyatt Place Melbourne, Essendon Fields.
On the night, Club President Richard Di Sauro used his speech to thank the club’s major sponsors, Nick Terziovski of Nicholas James Lawyers and Peter and Jim Iliopoulos of Coburg Super Finish.
The night also provided a moment to acknowledge some of the life and foundation members who have passed away since the club was last able to host its annual gala night since 2019.
Some of the brilliant contributors to our club include Mario Zavvattiero, Sylvester De Bernardi, Rino Svara, Giuliano Boato, Lino Tribuzio, and John Clemente.
Most recently, we lost one of our biggest supporters – Metricon founder, Mario Biasin.
Despite Mario’s overwhelming obligations and busy life, he always took a keen interest and had time to check-in at the club, where his father was also a foundation member over 60 years ago when the club was formed.
Also honoured on the night were our 2020 life members, who were unable to be acknowledged in 2021.
They were Joe Versace, Susie Strasser and Adam Maltese.
The Club announced nominations for Life Membership in 2022, with former senior men’s player Fab Mancinelli and Nadja Edwards, a member of our inaugural senior women’s squad.
Nominations were also announced for Manny Manini and Paul Capponi.
The Club would like to thank GIANT Essendon for donating TWO new bikes as amazing prizes for our raffle on the night.
We were also delighted to be able to give away 20 vouchers from Insight Body & Mind as door prizes.
A big thank you to Nicholas James Lawyers for assisting with the provision of a number of prizes, including signed A-Leagues jerseys from Melbourne Victory, Western United and Melbourne City.
