Essendon Royals confirm trial dates for 2023 Community Football Program

The Essendon Royals can confirm the following trial process for our 2023 Community Football teams.

Over the past five years, the club’s junior program has exploded as interest in the world game continues to grow and more girls take up the sport.

Season 2022 proved a strong year for our community teams, which range from under-7s through to under-21 teams, with outstanding participation rates and training attendances right across the board.

Our Community Football program is geared towards delivering a fun and exciting sporting experience for our players, with fantastic opportunities for boys and girls alike to develop technical and social skills.

In 2022, we engaged over 120 children across four terms of our beginner’s program, Essendon Royals Kick-Starters. We are delighted to have strong interest from the top-age players in that program to progress into a community football team at our club in 2023.

Once again, interest in our Community Football program has surpassed the number of spots we have to fill and therefore, the club must run a trial process.

As always, the club has given current members a grace period to lock in their spots within certain age groups for 2023. However, all players seeking to play in Kangas teams will need to trial for their spot.

Current Royals players who are eligible to confirm their place at the club without trialling are reminded that deposits are due by 15 November. Otherwise, your spot may be offered to another player.

All new players seeking to join the club are required to attend trials.

The trials will be held between 3 November and 24 November and will be conducted based on age groups and gender.

Trials are overseen by Boys Technical Director Michael Curcija and Women’s Technical Director and Senior Women’s player Ange Rassias, as well as Head of Football Vaughan Coveny.

Please view the image below for trial dates.

All trials are conducted at the East Keilor Synthetic Football Ground, with one exception. Parking is available via Quinn Grove at the East Keilor Leisure Centre or via Rachelle Road.

The trial session NOT held at East Keilor is the 6.45pm session on Wednesday 16/11 session (Boys U14/15 & Boys U13) which will be held at Ormond Park.
