Natalie Scicluna is the latest addition to the Essendon Royals squad as coach Vince Battiato continues his preparations for the Club’s debut VPLW campaign.
Arriving from fellow promoted side Spring Hills Stallions, Scicluna’s winning mentality will fit right in with the Royals.
Scicluna said that the positive atmosphere at the Royals was a big attraction, with the Club’s ongoing efforts to promote its Women’s team not going unnoticed.
“I’ve always been interested in the Royals, from the outside looking in,” she said.
“They’ve always had a positive outlook and a positive team, and I wanted to be a part of it.”
Having enjoyed many battles with the Royals on the field in recent seasons, Scicluna said she was excited to be on the same side as Battiato and Co. in 2023.
“I’m looking forward to being in the red shirt now,” she said.
“The Royals have always been around, and this was my brother’s junior club, so I’m very, very excited to be here and to be able to have the chance to test myself in a higher league as well.”
Scicluna said she was impressed with the organisation of the Women’s program and the support it received from the wider club.
“Vince is very organised, and the start has been very encouraging,” she said.
“The coach wants the best for everyone, so I’m excited to see what’s in store for the rest of 2023.”
