Essendon Royals Secure Top-Quality Goalkeepers: Andre Russo and Kieran McDowell

The Essendon Royals are thrilled to announce the signing of two exceptional goalkeepers, Andre Russo and Kieran McDowell, for the upcoming season. The club is committed to providing the best possible environment for these talented keepers to help each other excel and ultimately benefit the team.

Andre Russo Andre is a 21-year-old goalkeeper who arrives from Yarraville. He impressed the Royals with a strong showing against the club in 2022, demonstrating fantastic shot-stopping abilities. Russo is excited about the future of the club and the vision set by the coaching staff and board: “I was really impressed by the vision set out by the coaching staff and the board and the vision this club has moving forward.”

Andre has enjoyed the support and camaraderie within the club: “I’ve really liked the people at the club and the support that we receive as a team.”

He’s focused on helping the team achieve its goals: “We’ll just take it week by week, but the aim remains promotion, and I hope I can help the team to achieve that.”

Kieran McDowell Kieran is a highly experienced 32-year-old goalkeeper with a strong background in NPL3 and higher levels. He played for Geelong SC in 2023 and arrived at the Royals highly rated, poised to be a fantastic addition to the squad.

The signing of both Andre Russo and Kieran McDowell ensures the Essendon Royals have a formidable duo in goal.
