The Essendon Royals’ debut campaign in the Victorian Premier League Women’s competition has been laid bare with the 2023 fixture finally being finalised by Football Victoria.
The 2023 VPLW season will feature 11 teams following the withdrawal of Melbourne Knights, meaning that the competition has a bye-round.
Check out the full fixture below (click on the poster for a downloadable version).
The Royals kick off their campaign this Sunday with an away trip, heading out to Casey Comets before welcoming Geelong Galaxy United FC to Cross Keys Reserve for our first senior game at Cross Keys in 2023 on Sunday, 2 April 2023.
In 2023, entry to the Member’s Lounge (upstairs of the pavilion) will be ticketed, meaning if you want the best vantage point at Cross Keys for our Senior Men’s and Women’s games, you’ll need to buy a Membership or purchase a ticket on game day.
Entry to the Women’s Games will remain free as we continue to showcase our thriving women’s program to the community.
After Round 2, the Royals have a week-off courtesy of a league bye before taking on the Eltham Redbacks at Cross Keys in Round 4 for our first Senior Women’s game under Friday Night Lights on Friday, April 14.
We round out our first five rounds with a tough trip to fellow promoted side Brunswick Juventus, whom we take on at Reddish Reserve.
Other fixture highlights include the renewal of rivalries with Spring Hills FC – another promoted team from State League 1 North-West – whom we take on in Round 9.
With six of our ten home games coming in the first half of the season, the Royals will have to close out with six out of 10 away games.
The Royals calls on all local supporters of women’s sports to get behind our Senior Women’s program by purchasing a 2023 Membership with the club and showing your support at Cross Keys.
