Essendon Royals Achieve One Star Game Changer Status
We are thrilled to announce that the Essendon Royals Soccer Club has been awarded 1 Star Game Changer Club status by Football Australia. This prestigious recognition highlights our club’s unwavering commitment and dedication to the development of women’s and girls’ football. We are immensely proud of this achievement and look forward to further supporting the growth of the game within our community.
The 1 Star Game Changer Club status unlocks a range of reward and recognition benefits for our club and is the first important step on the path to becoming a 3 Star Game Changer Club over the coming years.
This is a new initiative by Football Australia, and as such, 1 Star status is the highest attainable status at this point in time.
As a 1 Star Game Changer Club, we join the esteemed Game Changer Club Network, a national network of clubs working together to grow and develop football. This network grants us exclusive access to webinars, forums, national awards, media opportunities, matchday experiences, and more. We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and the positive impact we can make in the football community.
We are also thrilled that Club Secretary and Life Member, David Rowan, will be part of a live Q&A Panel at Monday night’s 2023 Our Game Plan Forum at La Trobe University hosted by Football Victoria, which will also have Football Australia attendance.
The Royals has over 250 female footballers currently playing at the club, and we are excited to continue to push towards the goal of 50/50 male/female participation at our club, not just on the field, but off it with more female coaches, referees and administrators.
We extend our gratitude to Football Australia for this recognition and their ongoing support. Their commitment to promoting women’s and girls’ football aligns perfectly with our club’s values and goals. We are excited to collaborate with them and other Game Changer Clubs to create meaningful opportunities for our players and the wider football community.
Moving forward, we will continue to work diligently to maintain our 1 Star Game Changer Club status and progress through the program to reach 3 Star status. This includes completing the annual Women & Girls in Football Module and reviewing our action plan with the State Program Manager – Club Development. We are dedicated to providing the best opportunities for our female players and ensuring the continued growth of women’s and girls’ football at Essendon Royals.
We are excited for the journey ahead and invite all our members, players, and supporters to celebrate this remarkable achievement. Together, we are shaping the future of football and empowering women and girls in our community.
