Women’s Match Report: Senior and Reserves Women post 10-goal haul in another dominant night at Cross Keys

The Essendon Royals senior women’s team put on a commanding performance as they cruised to a 4-0 win over South Yarra in their VPLW clash at Cross Keys.

The Royals started the game slowly, but gradually took control of the match as it progressed. The first half saw the Royals dominate possession but fail to create clear-cut opportunities until 37 minutes when a fantastic team move was capped off by a great finish from the in-form Rachel Alonso. Just before halftime, Alonso struck again, doubling the lead for the Royals.

The second half saw a more assertive Royals side as they continued to dominate South Yarra. Alonso completed her hat-trick with a clinical finish in the 47th minute, and Yuria Sasaki added a fourth goal to seal the victory in the 67th minute.

It was a solid performance from the Royals who dominated possession throughout the match and limited South Yarra’s opportunities.

It was another impressive outing from coach Vince Battiato’s side who continue to impress the Cross Keys faithful with their incredible resilience and discipline in defence, and their flair in the final third.

In addition, the Royals Reserves started the night off in style with a resounding 6-0 win over a previously undefeated South Yarra.
