Ruby Deague added to NPLW squad

Essendon Royals are proud to announce the signing of Ruby Deaguel for the upcoming season.

Deague joins the club after spending last season with Brunswick Juventus, as part of the side that achieved promotion to NPLW Victoria. Prior to that, she played for FV Emerging in Victoria’s top flight.

The youngster said she’s looking forward to working under head coach Vince Battiato as she looks to take her game to the next level at Essendon.

“I came to Royals because this is a club with a strong winning culture and a vision for making great achievements, which for me is the exact environment that I love to be in,” Deague said.

“Not only that but having spoken to Vince I know that this is the place where I can be surrounded by high quality players, be in a system which allows me to play to my strengths, and have thorough coaching to continue my development.”

Deague said she’s looking forward to seeing what the team can achieve this season.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far,” she said.

“The training sessions have been both productive and enjoyable; the team has been very welcoming and I’ve gotten to see how as a group we share the same clear objectives, we are able to push each other to be our best, and then bring that into each of our games.

“I’m very excited to continue that process into our 2024 season, and to do so in such great company.

“I’m certainly expecting this season to bring new challenges to the team and to me individually, however I look forward to this as it’s the perfect opportunity to step up and become a much improved player.

“I can tell that as a group we are ready for this, and I’m excited to personally contribute to the success of this team and to show the NPLW what we can do.”
