Essendon Royals are thrilled to announce the re-signing of midfielder Ali Eyigun to their senior men’s squad ahead of the upcoming 2025 VPL2 season.
Eyigun returns for a second full-season at the Royals after joining the club during the mid-season window in the 2023 campaign, after a three year stint at Pascoe Vale.
The midfielder had an injury-interrupted start to the 2024 campaign, before making a return during the middle of the season, where his ball-mastery and class in the middle of the park stood out in both the league and Dockerty Cup.
The former Melbourne City Academy prospect famously scored the winning penalty in the Royals’ dramatic 4-3 win over FC Bulleen Lions in the Cup, and added another goal in the league in nine appearances.
Eyigun is the club’s 11th re-signing, joining Graham Kelly, Vince Lia, Brad Norton, VPL2 Golden Boot winner Jordan Adeyemi, Dean Clarke, Will Thomason, Andre Russo, James Tieri and Seb Lo Monaco, along with new signings Vincent Nicoletti and Rashid Hayek.
