Essendon Royals are excited to announce the signing of Takumi Niwa for the 2025 season, adding further quality and international experience to our Senior Men’s squad.
The 24-year-old midfielder arrives from AC Nagano Parceiro in Japan’s J3 League, where he has been part of the senior squad since 2023. A dynamic and technically gifted player, Niwa primarily operates on the right side of midfield, bringing creativity, composure, and a sharp footballing brain to the team.
Having played in Japan’s professional football system, Niwa has developed a strong tactical awareness and work ethic, making him a fantastic addition to the Royals’ midfield. His ability to link play, deliver quality in wide areas, and contribute both offensively and defensively will be a valuable asset as we gear up for the challenges of VPL2 in 2025.
Niwa becomes the latest signing for our 2025 squad, joining Evan Markogiannakis, Vincent Nicoletti, Rashid Hayek, Shabir Sawiz, and Haysam Elias as part of our exciting recruitment drive.
