Royals lock in Kendrah Smith for third season in 2026

Essendon Royals are delighted to confirm that Kendrah Smith has re-signed for the 2026 NPLW Victoria season, extending her stay into a third year at Cross Keys.

The New Zealander continues to be a crucial part of the squad’s spine. In 2025, she played in all 23 games and again proved her value through consistency, grit, and the kind of tactical intelligence that gives the coaching staff real flexibility.

Smith remains a steadying force in midfield, offering the steel and work rate that anchors the team through difficult passages. She’s slotted seamlessly into the defensive line when required, and her aerial strength makes her an asset from set pieces at both ends of the pitch, highlighted by another well-taken goal during the 2025 campaign.

Since arriving from West Coast Rangers ahead of the club’s return to the top tier, Smith has become deeply embedded in the Royals community. As she enters her third season in Essendon colours, Smith will again play a central role in a squad intent on taking another step forward in 2026.
