The Essendon Royals made a dream start to their debut season in the VPLW, securing a dominant 3-0 victory over a strong Casey Comets side. Despite missing several key players, the Royals showcased their remarkable depth of talent and resilience throughout the match.
The Royals wasted no time in asserting their dominance, with new signing Ayano Koizumi converting a penalty in just the 2nd minute. The girls continued to press forward, refusing to be outmuscled in a physical contest against the Comets.
In the 33rd minute, another new signing, Rosie Wild, doubled the Royals’ lead with a powerful header from a corner. Just two minutes later, Talia White, also making her league debut for the Royals, added a third with a header from a corner.
The Royals maintained their composure and strength throughout the match, demonstrating outstanding resilience against a tough Casey Comets side. The victory was made even more impressive by the fact that all three goals were scored by new signings, marking a perfect start to their league campaigns in their new colours.
In the earlier kickoff, the Royals Reserves put on a stunning display, winning 8-0. Teen striker Lola Ferrante was the star of the show, bagging an impressive four goals. The Royals will look to build on this momentum as they continue their VPLW journey.
