This Saturday, the Essendon Royals will take on Melbourne Victory FC’s NPL side in their highly anticipated home opener at Cross Keys Reserve. After securing their first point of the season in a 2-2 draw against Geelong SC, the Royals are eager to clinch their maiden win in the NPL competition.
However, Melbourne Victory FC, currently sitting second on the ladder with a perfect record, presents a formidable challenge. With no less than six individual goal-scorers in their squad, including Jordi Valadon with two goals in three games, the Victory team boasts a versatile and dangerous attack.
Despite a recent 2-1 loss in the Australia Cup, the Royals remain positive, focusing on the development of their talented squad. Head coach Mick Ferrante is dedicated to finding a winning combination, as evidenced by the five debuts given to Royals juniors in the first four competitive games of the season.
As the Royals gear up for their first home game in the NPL, the atmosphere at Cross Keys Reserve is expected to be electric.
