Women’s Match Preview: Red hot Royals look to continue winning ways when they take on Alamein

The in-form Essendon Royals’ senior women’s side will look to continue their brilliant run of form when they head to Dorothy Laver Reserve on Saturday afternoon to take on Alamein FC.

Royals made it five straight wins in the league with a statement 2-1 victory over second placed Preston Lions, to put themselves within a point of the latter on the standings.

Goals from new arrivals Emma Robers and TJ Vlajnic proved to be the difference on Saturday afternoon, as the duo scored their first in Royals colours.

Their next opponents, Alamein, sit in sixth on the standings after a hard fought 4-3 loss against league leaders FC Bulleen Lions.

In between their losses against Bulleen and Preston, Alamein have been in decent form over their last six matches, defeating Bentleigh Greens, Brunswick Juventus, FV Emerging and Calder United.

Sidney Allen has had yet another sensational campaign, scoring four goals for the club, while Rebecca Saber now has eight to her name, to take into her equal second place on the Golden Boot charts.

It will also be new Royals signing Mia Lantieri-Bartley’s first game against her former side, after making the move this year.

Kick-off is at 3 PM, with the Under 20s taking the field at 12:45 PM.

Royals’ Under 20s drew 0-0 with Preston last week, and now sit in ninth on the standings, while Alamein lost 2-0 to Bulleen and are in fourth place.
