Club Statement – 9 October 2024

Essendon Royals Soccer Club welcomes the conclusion of the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) investigation into Moonee Valley City Councillors, which included a focus on the interactions of the club and club representatives with Councillors.

As part of this investigation, IBAC conducted a comprehensive review of materials related to both Councillors and club officials. 

A club official was questioned by IBAC, and was completely co-operational throughout the investigation process.

IBAC has not found sufficient evidence to support any allegations involving the club or its representatives.

We welcome Moonee Valley City Council’s plans to develop and administer high-quality Induction/Transition Plan ahead of a new Council term.

Essendon Royals remains committed to the values of integrity, fairness, and community service.

We will work collaboratively and transparently with Council and other stakeholders to ensure we provide the best possible environment for our 1000+ players and the wider Moonee Valley community.

The Club does not make, and will not be making, any comment on behalf of individuals.
