Smith signs! Essendon bolster midfield with re-signing of Kendrah Smith for 2025 season

Essendon Royals are pleased to announce the re-signing Kendrah Smith has re-signed for the 2025 season, embarking on her second campaign with our senior women’s side since arriving from New Zealand.

Smith joined the Royals for their first tier in the top flight of Victorian women’s football, after playing her entire career at Auckland-based side West Coast Rangers in New Zealand’s Women’s National League.

The versatile midfielder established herself as a regular in the heart of the Royals midfield, providing plenty of stability in both the defensive and attacking halves.

Smith made 22 appearances in the league for Royals and scored once in their crucial 3-2 win over Brunswick Juventus on the road.

Her performances caught the eye of selectors for the 2024 Battle of States and was named in Victoria’s side for the trip up north to face Queensland.

The New Zealander’s impact has been felt across the entire club, having also helped out as a coach of one of our junior sides along with her role as a player in the senior women’s side.

We can’t wait to see Smith take her place in the side next season as we look to go from strength to strength next year.
