Royals Sign Midfield Playmaker Anthony Trajkoski for 2026

The Essendon Royals are pleased to welcome midfielder Anthony Trajkoski for the 2026 VPL2 season.
A creative presence with an eye for goal, Trajkoski arrives to add guile, invention and attacking punch to a Royals side that already produced the third-highest goal tally in the league last year.

The 27-year-old joins after a strong spell with Geelong Soccer Club, where he netted 15 goals across four of the last five seasons. His résumé also includes time at Brunswick Juventus and Caroline Springs George Cross.

Trajkoski brings valuable international experience as well. As a teenager he headed to the Netherlands with FC Emmen’s U19s before spending time in Armenia’s top flight with Ararat Yerevan and Serbia’s second tier with FK Smederevo 1924.

Speaking to Royals Media, Trajkoski said the club’s ambition aligned perfectly with his own.

“Everything they said matched what I wanted for next year and the future, so it was a pretty easy decision in the end,” he said. “Essendon is local for me, which helps, but the big thing was their vision. They spoke about wanting to go up, promote, win a championship – and that’s exactly what I want.”

A natural attacking midfielder, Trajkoski outlined what he hopes to bring.

“I like to get forward, create, assist, and score when I can. I want to get on the ball as much as possible and help the team play. That’s what I’m here to do.”

Reflecting on his time overseas, he said those experiences shaped his approach.

“Armenia and Serbia were very different to Australia. Even travelling to away games through rough towns and villages – it was already hostile before you deal with the fans. It teaches you a lot.”

As for 2026, Trajkoski believes the Royals are close to something significant.

“The squad is already strong, and hopefully I can add to that. The goal is clear – win a championship and get promoted. I’m excited to get started.”

Please join us in welcoming Anthony Trajkoski to the Royals family. We look forward to seeing him in action in 2026.
