Essendon Royals are pleased to confirm that defender Amy Parkinson has re-signed for the 2026 NPLW Victoria season after a strong debut year in Essendon colours.
Parkinson arrived from Maitland FC in 2025 and wasted no time establishing herself as one of the most dependable full-backs in the squad. She featured 23 times across the campaign and brought exactly what the Royals hoped she would: work rate, discipline, and a willingness to compete in every moment.
Her engine and ability to play on either flank became a key part of how the Royals played. Parkinson pushed forward with purpose, supported attacks with intelligent positioning, and recovered quickly to provide stability in defence. That balance made her an important outlet in transition and a consistent presence at the back as well as going forward.
New senior coach Jaiden Van Der Heijden praised Parkinson’s work ethic and versatility.
“Amy is an athletic fullback who also has the ability to play as a centre back if needed,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to seeing her grow into more of a leadership role this season.”
Off the pitch, Parkinson has already become a strong character in the dressing room, and her professionalism and humility have earned her the respect of her peers. After an impressive first year, the Royals are excited to see Parkinson build on those foundations in 2026.
