Essendon Royals are excited to confirm that young gun Cobi Wilbert has re-signed for the 2026 NPLW Victoria season, following an outstanding debut campaign.
Wilbert arrived at the club ahead of the 2025 season from Calder United, having already been fast-tracked through youth football into senior environments after developing at Ballarat City. Still only 17 at the time of her arrival, she wasted little time proving she belonged at NPL level.
Thrown straight into the deep end, Wilbert made her senior debut in Round 1 and never looked back, making 23 appearances in defence and midfield.
She was named joint-winner of the Senior Women’s Coaches Award alongside Emma Langley – a reflection of how highly she is regarded by the coaching staff.
“Cobi’s our most exciting prospect,” says NPLW head coach Jaiden Van Der Heijden.
“At only 18 years old, we expect to see Cobi playing the majority of minutes this year in midfield.
“She’s a really exciting player who will no doubt get an A-League opportunity soon.”
The club is thrilled to have Cobi continue her development at Cross Keys, in what shapes as a huge year for our senior women’s program.
