Andre Russo re-signs for season four at Essendon Royals

Essendon Royals are pleased to confirm that goalkeeper Andre Russo has re-signed with the club, entering his fourth season with the club.

Since arriving ahead of the 2023 campaign, Russo has developed into a reliable and settled presence in the goalkeeping group. He joined the Royals from Yarraville Glory after catching the club’s attention with strong performances against Essendon Royals during the 2022 season, and has since built consistency across multiple campaigns.

Russo played 21 matches in both the 2023 and 2024 seasons, featuring heavily during a challenging period for the club in VPL2 before contributing to a top-four finish in 2024. Across that time, he has been trusted in key fixtures and has delivered a number of timely interventions.

Now entering his fourth year at the club, Russo brings continuity and experience to a goalkeeping group that continues to evolve. Having progressed from a young prospect into a dependable senior option, his re-signing adds stability as the squad prepares for the upcoming campaign.

The club looks forward to seeing Andre continue his work between the posts as Essendon Royals head into the new season.
