Christie Merry signs on with the Essendon Royals

Essendon Royals Soccer Club is pleased to announce Christie Merry’s signing for the upcoming season. Merry, a seasoned player with a rich history in Victorian soccer, is set to bring her experience and dynamism to the Royals’ Senior Women’s team.

Christie’s soccer journey began in Queensland and continued in Victoria after moving in 2014. She started her Victorian soccer career at Deakin Ducks, followed by a stint at Lara United in their State League 1 team. Christie then progressed to play in the VPLW and NPLW with Geelong Galaxy and most recently played for the Boroondara Eagles.

The decision to join the Royals was influenced by the team’s recent successes and the reputation of Coach Vince’s training style, which Christie believes will aid in her development as a player. The added benefit of being closer to home made the decision even more appealing.

Since joining the Royals, Christie has found the environment to be highly welcoming and conducive to growth. The strength and conditioning program, in particular, has given her confidence, especially after overcoming an injury last season.

Looking ahead to the season, Christie is optimistic about the team’s prospects and her role within it. She is committed to contributing to the team’s success and is eager to continue her personal growth as a player. The team’s fighting spirit, highlighted in their preseason games, aligns perfectly with Christie’s ambition and determination.
