Essendon Royals Welcome Versatile Talent Ben Smith

The Essendon Royals are thrilled to announce the signing of English footballer Ben Smith, who joins us from St Albans City FC. Ben, a dynamic 20-year-old known for his adaptability, primarily excels in midfield but is equally proficient as a full-back.

Having arrived in Melbourne last week, Ben seamlessly integrated into the squad and made his debut in Friday’s match against Nunawading City FC.

Coming on at half-time, Ben delivered glimpses of what is still to come with a tidy performance.

Ben’s journey began with Watford FC, where he developed through their Under-18 and Under-23 teams, even making a first-team appearance in a pre-season friendly. His tenure at St Albans City FC saw him accumulate 76 appearances, playing a pivotal role in their National League South Promotion Final during the 2022/2023 season.

Ben wsa registered for the Royals prior to the transfer window closing, with his arrival only delayed by the conclusion of a loan spell in the UK.
